Forms 3 & 4 Burwell House Trip

Forms 3 and 4 had a wonderful two nights away staying at Burwell House up in the Cambridgeshire fens. Lots of learning took place in ways that are not possible in the classroom, not least of which was learning to be independent and responsible for themselves and their belongings. The most exciting day was Tuesday when they went to Wicken Fen to experience life in the fens 200 years ago, investigate the landscape and explore the habitat by pond dipping. This was all done after a 5km walk in very cold winds but they all wrapped up warmly and loved the thunderstorm and heavy snow showers! Then it was back to Burwell to dress up in Victorian costumes and have a banquet. Teamwork was a big feature of the games played at Burwell and they also did many activities involving map work, which were very challenging but huge fun.
