What is the largest unit of length used to measure great distances outside the solar system—apogee, event horizon, neutrino or parsec? What would be the most abundant element in sea water by mass—oxygen, hydrogen, chlorine or sodium? These questions left the audience stumped at the National Inter-School Quiz Championship General Knowledge Area Heat, but our St Hilda’s teams had no trouble . There were seven teams in total and we were thrilled to finish in first and third place. It was a nailbiting competition, and was very close at times, but our girls did us proud. St Hilda’s Team 1 scored an incredible 1910 points, with Team 2 achieving 1585 points, securing the victory to everyone’s delight! Mrs Dillon, who organised the event,
commented, “I was impressed by the girls’ general knowledge—they had worked hard over Christmas to learn lots of useful information. Well done!”
