Share a Pencil Day
The girls took part in Share a Pencil Day, which aimed to raise awareness of the plight of children who are in areas of the world where resources such as pencils in schools are rare, and often have to be shared. At St Hilda’s, each form tried sharing a pencil for one lesson – an eye opening experience for all. One pupil commented, “It was so frustrating because I really wanted to write my answers down but I had to wait for the pencil.” They certainly appreciated getting their own pencils back again at the end of the lesson, but learned that many children around the globe are not so lucky.
