Form 2 had a great day out at the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery, Buck’s Museum on Monday. The day started with a discussion about Roald Dahl and some of his most famous books, as well as how he gained inspiration for his stories. The girls enjoyed acting out some of their favourite scenes including when Mrs Twit played a trick on Mr Twit and put her glass eye in his mug of beer. The class also talked about editing and the importance of improving our writing, just like Roald Dahl did.

After this, Form 2 had the opportunity to explore the Imagination and Discovery galleries where they travelled in the Great Glass Elevator, crawled underground through Fantastic Mr Fox’s Tunnel, explored different optical illusions and created their own shadows in the Shadow Room. They even watched themselves shrink in the special television that shrunk Mike Teavee in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

In the afternoon, the girls visited ‘Sit and Play’, a new sculptural exhibition and play experience. The exhibition displayed chair-like structures built with blocks in the shape of the letters ‘S’, ‘U’ and ‘P’, made from recyclable plastic. The girls had fun building their own structures and also exploring other parts of Bucks Museum to gain inspiration for their Matilda book bags. To end the day, the girls used their plans and ideas to decorate their book bags using the resources provided. They were very excited to take them home.
