Form 5 Maths Challenge
Four students from Form 5 competed against 23 other schools in an exciting Maths Challenge at Belmont. They thoroughly enjoyed solving six interesting puzzles over 90 tense minutes. Each task had a time limit to test the girls even further. The teams from St Hilda’s did very well against stiff opposition.
Mia, who took part in the event, reported, “When we arrived, we were directed and signed in while being sorted into ‘Nonagons’ and ‘Hexagons’. We reached the Maths Challenge area buzzing with excitement, though nervous. There were tables with activities on them. We were ebullient for the eight minutes whilst we completed each challenge. After all the assiduous children had finished all six tasks, we were given a smaller final mental maths challenge. Now for the prizes: Niamh and Isra did really well and came 17th, while Danielle and I tried our hardest and came 10th. Well done, teams, for competing and getting such phenomenal scores!”
