Trips and Outings

“The more one does and sees and feels, the more one is able to do, and the more genuine may be one's appreciation of fundamental things like home, and love, and understanding companionship.”

Amelia Earhart, aviation pioneer and author, 1897 - 1937

Educational visits are an integral part of the learning experience for pupils at St Hilda’s and Bluebird Nursery. Trips can clarify and enhance the activities which take place in the classroom, both socially and educationally, in a number of ways:

· By providing new physical and mental challenges, giving pupils the opportunity to develop their independence, leadership skills and confidence.

· By providing opportunities to clarify pupils’ understanding of areas of the curriculum by showing the material studied in a new context.

· By allowing pupils to develop stronger relationships with fellow pupils and with staff through an enjoyable experience.

Recent trips have included days out to Highclere Castle, the Houses of Parliament and the The Globe Theatre, as well as residential trips in Forms 5 and 6 to France and Cornwall.

I love the trips we go on because they are always completely different from each other and they are always fun.
