Maths, Maths and More Maths!
This week was ‘Maths Week England’ and St Hilda’s girls have enjoyed the opportunity to try their hand at some out of the box and interesting maths activities.
They’ve tried a new Japanese puzzle called Yohaku, which has challenged everyone!
Some of our older girls have taken part in Escape Room workshops, where they’ve had to work in teams to solve puzzles to unlock the Escape box’s padlocks to uncover more puzzles. Our Lower School have taken part in some problem solving skills workshops which they all found really interesting.
In addition to this there have been many maths challenges completed including the Maths Association’s Primary Maths Challenge and the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge. In between, the girls have been super busy on Times Table Rockstars having answered over 13,200 questions!
Four of our Form 6 girls also represented the school at the Aldwickbury Maths Challenge and performed extremely well placing 9th and 13th out of 59 teams in their challenges.
It’s been a busy week of maths, maths and more maths! The week has been a wonderful opportunity to showcase to the girls how the subject of maths can be fun and interesting and the pupils and teachers alike have enjoyed a wonderful week of exploration and learning.
